patience, dear

When patience pays off..

Sweater & Denim: H&M . Coat (held): Guess by Marciano . Bag: Alexander Wang Pony Rocco . Loafers: Gucci

Patience is a virtue.. One that I lack, but am getting better at. You know when you have your eye on something and you want it to go on sale? When it finally does is one of the most exciting feelings ever! I am really big on not paying full price for something (unless it never goes on sale, I'm longingly looking at you, Celiné and Chanel handbags). I mean, if you can save money, why not? And I mean, sale or not, its still new to you!
I decided I wanted an Alex Wang Rocco around the time of the last Barney's Warehouse sale, and I remember seeing on Mizhattan that there was one there. By the time I got there, though, it was gone (of course). It wasn't until I saw 2 more, in various colors, come and go on my Shopstyle sale alerts that I knew I absolutely had to have one. I even went to the store down in Soho and considered buying it for full price, which I ultimately went against. But not 3 days later, I would get a sale alert for a Rocco (I hadn't seen one since before Christmas!) and I would not hesitate at all to get it. Aah, success! And this one had fur! Which creeped me out a little at first, but then I realized this calf hair would add to its uniqueness and make this an atypical Rocco. And its white! I've been dying for a white bag because I'm a firm believer that black is the new white. My wait was soooo worth it!

You know that feeling when you pass up something and then regret it (literally) forever? Its such a risk when you're waiting on a sale, but its literally an adrenaline rush (I know, how dramatic) when you see that sale alert. All of us have those few items that we will ALWAYS remember and ALWAYS regret not buying. For me, there are a few..
There were these black Gucci flat booties that were just the epitome of what I was searching for this entire winter. They went on sale about this time last year, and they were so practical, very reduced, and dont we all need a good, practical, pair of black boots for like.. every other day? I thought I had found their replacement at Aldo (after they had sold out and the regret had already set it), but this winter they proved unworthy. My feet froze inside of them, the leather sole was wearing, and I was so dissappointed and all I could think about were those Gucci boots I passed up last year. Smh.
Nothing else as strong as those boots but certainly I regret not buying other stuff. Like a 3.1 Phillip Lim Ka-Pow! tee (I justified not buying it because I would have preferred the sweater, I would later realize this justification in my mind was a bad excuse to save some money.. I would soon regret that also). A metallic Givenchy tote I saw at the Barneys Warehouse Sale. Other than being totally broke as a closet freelancer and not able to afford Givenchy, it was visibly worn, and if I'm gonna get anything Givenchy its not gonna be raggedy. Finally, this beautiful pair of ankle Givenchy shark tooth wedge boots, I only waited a few hours but when I went back they were gone. Sigh. A few moments of hesitation will kill you out here! Lol, oh well, this is why I'm saving up for the next (and, last?!) Barneys Warehouse Sale, happening on V-Day. Barney, be my Valentine? Don't let me down.
Every person in the world has a story like this, I'm convinced. Share if you like.

So glad you nabbed your sale deal! You must be on cloud 9 right now - just oggling that bag 24./7. I know I would.

This post much have been so cathartic for you to write. You are definitely right - we all have those "i wish I would have..." items that haunt us forever. Alas, I think it's necessary to ensure that we scoop up the next deal w/o hesitation.

Wang is probably my favorite designer -and I've been consideirng dropping the big bucks for a pair of his shoes. So I totally condone your purchase.

Adore your oxford here, too. Such an awesome look. You're too cool.
